chocolate ice cream pint and bowl

Ice cream — everyone’s favorite dessert. It comes in many shapes, sizes, and forms, ranging from double chocolate chunk served in a waffle cone, to a hot fudge sundae topped with caramel, sprinkles, and peanut butter cups. It’s hard to trace the exact date and time this chilly dessert developed, but some say it dates all the way back to King Solomon’s reign, with Biblical passages claiming he loved cool ice drinks. From there, many other historical figures enjoyed ice cream, such as Alexander the Great of ancient Greece, who would treat himself to icy drinks flavored with wine or honey.

Up until the 1800s, ice cream remained an exotic dessert only enjoyed by elites. By 1851, manufacturing ice cream became an industry in America, with production increases occurring due to technological innovations including steam power, mechanical refrigeration, electric power and motors, packing machines, and new freezing equipment.

Ice cream has evolved dramatically depending on time period and location, with the regular plain ole’ option, sorbet, gelato, mochi, and more, as well as, low fat, low carb, low calorie, and dairy-free choices. As the world becomes more and more health-conscious, brands have developed new options to cater to healthier lifestyles. Enter...Mammoth Creameries.

In 2017, our founders Tim and Susan Krauss realized a need for diabetic-friendly ice cream when Tim was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. He quickly changed his eating habits, from consuming sugary snacks and high carb meals to eating a well-balanced, low carb, keto diet. Finding replacements for his favorite foods was relatively simple, but there was one thing missing — ice cream. Together, he and his wife Sue, birthed Mammoth Creameries, a keto ice cream that uses organic and natural ingredients, creating a dessert with your body and health in mind.

Mammoth was the first keto ice cream brand on the market and is leading the charge when it comes to the evolution of healthy desserts — did we mention we have the lowest net carbs of any ice cream?! Ice cream is known as an indulgent treat, but with options like Mammoth, there is no longer a need to worry about harmful additives, high carbs and sugar, and that overall glutinous feeling you get after eating too much of something sweet. Mammoth can be served for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, OR dessert, meaning ice cream is less of a craving you have to fight off and more of a tasty source of real, whole ingredients.

Our keto ice cream is sold in grocery stores across the country and you can use the location finder on our website to find stores that carry the brand near you! Additionally, you can order online and have it shipped directly to your door overnight.

Next time you’re craving ice cream but decide it’s best not to indulge, remember there are plenty of options that will allow you to satisfy your sweet tooth while sticking to whichever healthy lifestyle routine you follow. Or you can take after Alexander the Great and enjoy your honey-flavored ice, but we can guarantee a pint of Mammoth Creameries will taste so much better!
